KimmiT Not for Profit

KimmiT is a for profit private limited company why would it do Not for Profit work?

Not for Profit is a bit of a misnomer, Not for Profit organisations are not non profit making they in fact do and should make large profits. The difference between for profit and Not for Profit companies is what happens to those profits. A for profit company can either invest any profits made into the business or it can pay those profits to shareholders as dividends. Not for Profit MUST reinvest the profits in the business and cannot pay anything to any shareholders (in the case of Not for Profit this is the members of the organisations). We support the Not for Profit because like many other business's we believe it is good for our business, good for our brand and good in time for the profits the business makes.

Why does KimmiT manage directly Not for Profit brands

There are several reasons why we would do this, its tax efficient, its good for our image (why would large organisations do it otherwise?) and we hope to sell some of the other services we provide to the Not for Profit sector so we hope its good for our business too.

What are the not for Profit Brands held by KimmiT?

We own the brands BICA, CAREMALE and Birmingham Carers

BICA (Birmingham Independent Carers Association)

BICA is a wrapper allowing us to publish and support charities in our chosen support field. We publish a website www.bica.org.uk

CAREMALE

One of the most under supported areas of Carers is the man who provides care I know I did it for 20 years. Carers are an isolated group anyway often deserted by friends and left to care alone. Even if the Carer gets time off they are then left with no-one to go anywhere with or to share anything with. We were approached by a support worker for South Birmingham CHT and after many meetings it was decided to start CAREMALE in a hope to try and bridge this contact gap for male carers. It is being run inside the wrapper of BICA.

Birmingham Carers

Is a brand we took over from the now moribund Birmingham Carers Support Services which at the moment we are not actively doing anything with.

Are any of the Not for Profit brands registered charities

No

Why not?

We don't believe that there is any benefit from any of them being registered as charities for a number of reasons.

The Only reasons for an organisation to be registered as a charity with the charity commission is that it gives (false) confidence in the organisation as a registered charity with the business community and the public. It gives tax benefits to the organisations in exchange for costly accounting procedures that take up a lot of the money that has been donated. This money only goes to keep accountants in work does little else in the good running of the charity.

Why do we say False confidence?

Have you ever tried complaining to the charity commission about a charity that is either being abused by it trustees or you believe is not fulfilling its stated aims?

What they do at first is write to the charity and tell them there has been a complaint and to get your act together along with issuing some of their guidance booklets.

Should you follow this up then they will write back telling you they have no power to interfere in the running of the charity and it is up to the trustees to manage the charities affairs and if there is any proof of fraudulent wrong doing then this should be reported to the police.

The Charity Commission are simply yet another Government Quango (Quasi Autonomous Non Governmental organisation) to give jobs to their friends who could not get other jobs otherwise wasting more of your tax money.

With our experience in the Not for Profit sector having seen the upside and the downside we believe we are uniquely placed to advise and help Not for Profit organisation protect themselves from the pitfalls and conmen who are out there trying to trip up un-suspecting charities

We are happy to speak at conferences, AGM's and other gatherings on a variety of subjects.

All of the Not for Profit activities we currently sponsor are financed either out of our own resources or via the advertising on our websites and direct sponsorship of the projects from other bodies and organisations. We accept no sponsorship from politically biased organisations like local or national government but we do accept sponsorship from the NHS.
